There is value to have a good time and discovering new items to drink but sports handicapping is primarily about action and cashing those wagers.  What separates us from the pack is our superior sports knowledge.  We rally together to translate something tangible for time as fans.  Ask The Bookie realizes and embraces this attitude.  Tonight we tackle the Thursday Night NFL Free Pick.  Washington is at the New York Giants  We seek the answer whether this 0-2 team can play above their weaknesses and cover as a four point favortie on 9/24.

Past Errors were  Mental Based

Tough news to hear for fans of the Giants but trying extra hard on the field does not make mental miscues stop from happening.  In fact, it often makes them worse as even the professionals go too far down this rabbit hole.  People pounded the decision making near the end of the Cowboys game but it was that soft secondary that let Romo march down the filed in week one.  Same thing with the Falcons.  Now we have a team with a two pronged rushing attack.  While they will not fling it downfield as much as they should, the NYG nickel pages could make Cousins for Washington look like a world beater.

Shutdown Corner

Chris Culliver was brought in for the big bucks to be the kill switch.  Can he prove to be worth that investment against Odell this evening?  Face it, he does not have to post shut out numbers to thwart the Giants plans.  Remember the up tempo offense they were going to use?  They scraped that in most part because they lacked the options to implement it.  Now other than Odell, the larders are pretty bare for this team.  If Culliver limits Odell to five catches or less this evening in the important sections of the game then the Redskins have the winning advantage.

0-2 teams carry too much credit with handicappers that they can straighten up and fly right in the face of fear.  0-3 is a hole that few can dig out of so the theory is that you will see the real Giants except their errors are not based on effort.  Limited talent and mental weakness are nor corrected by saying we dig in now.  The bargain of this week is in the Washington Redskins plus the points.  Rushing attack and Cousins will be enough.  Good fortune in this and we will check in tomorrow here at The Brink.
