College football this week has the highlight word of Hurricanes.  Miami played on Thursday night as they traveled to the chilly mid-west to play Cincinnati.  On a more serious note, Hurricane Joaquin is threatening to barrel down on the East Coast.  This frantic weather system is a category 4 as of Friday morning.  Concern of this gaining landfall in the US has caused some events like the Michigan @ Maryland game to be pushed up.  Today’s The Brink will bring you the latest on this weather pattern and what influence it will have on the aforementioned game.

Noon Start Time

Michigan (3-1) at Maryland (2-2) has been pushed up to a noon start.  First thing the staff blurted out was go with the under.  Most of America also had this inclination as the total has plummeted from 46 to 42 1/2.  Meanwhile a concentrated line shift had most of the books dropping a point to a point and a half on the line.  It was Michigan -16 but has altered to -14 to -14 1/2 on the Wolverines.  Now that Michigan has a smell of success and enters the Big Ten Season, the onus on Harbaugh’s Men is to win the opener.  This spot has all sorts of intangibles and they favor the home team.  Get +14 1/2 and batten down the hatches with Maryland.

Hurricane Joaquin

This storm has battered the Bahamas for forty eight hours.  Winds up to 160 mph have been measured.  A category four storm is nothing to mess with.  It appears to the majority of weather models that the eye will not make US landfall.  The outlying tendrils will unleash torrents of rain on the Eastern Seaboard.  We urge caution and send our well wishes to people in that region as they attempt to ride the storm out.

So we had our +4 first half Bearcats free pick cover last night.  The absence of the two Miami safeties in the first half saw a slew of scoring.  When they came back, adjustments were made but the Hurricanes could not get into that higher gear.  Good fortune with our Free Pick for 10/3 and we will see you on Saturday here at Americas Bookie’s The Brink.
