Our viewer mailbag has had several 5Dimes Credit Card Fraud complaints mailed to us since the start of October.  The Brink has done some investigation and is ready to report on what happened, how the 5Dimes is handling it, and why person to person deposit methods are a proven superior choice.  Finally, how does all of this tie into the thrilling ending of the Monday Night Football game where the Seahawks (2-2) were gifted a 13-10 victory over the Detroit Lions (0-4).  All of this comes at you right now here at The Brink.

5Dimes Credit Card Fraud

Our friends at The Gambling Forum first started reporting the issue here and in it exploded into this warning.  There, across the street, and here at The Brink, the complaints and concerns have started rolling in.  What is being reported is that on multiple occasions, cards that were used to fund 5Dimes accounts started having mysterious and unauthorized charges appear on statements.  People have had to fight banks and have cards reissued over these matters.  Customers have been contacting 5Dimes but they have put up a sturdy wall on replying.  At last, they replied to the higher ups at TGF.  Here is a synopsis of what is going on.

...spoke to Becky, one of the managers there.  She said they’ve had about eight similar complaints, and have been investigating the matter. She said they have their cashier secured with SSL, and all their credit card info is encrypted, so nobody has full access to info on their end.  If they had the full info, charges would’ve actually gone through… but she says no one has lost any money.  They suspect that it could be the work of hackers, and they’re going to implement one final security step (device step authentication) that will go up in a couple of weeks.  She asked that if any of us could provide her with extra info on the matter, please do, as it will help with their investigation.”

MNF and Know the Rules

How does this apply to the ending of the MNF game?  Easy, the Lions coaching staff did not know that intentionally punching the ball out of the end zone results in a penalty.  Alas it was not reviewable,.  This is similar when dealing with 5Dimes.   One is just a faceless account at the mercy of an automated system whose security is called into question even by their own company.  This clearly demonstrates the superiority of the person to person transfer.  With Moneygram and other options, it is a cash transaction that does not expose your debit/credit card to risk.  For a few extra minutes it takes to run to the store, the peace of mind is well worth it.  Not only this but the promotional opportunities and bonuses from this kind of transaction are greater at other well respected sportsbooks.
