Magical moments in October seem to come more often and live in our memories for a lifetime.  Reggie Jackson’s three homers in a game.  Bucky Dent hitting it over the Green Monster.  Royals and Giants Game Seven provide for some of the most riveting scenes in sports.  Last night, the Rangers and the Blue Jays were pushed to The Brink by a seventh inning that had all the quirks and drama that propel our baseball wagering interest.  Let us examine that fateful stanza and see how the Blue Jays advanced when it was all said and done.

18 Minutes

This was not the length of the inning but the time it took to evaluate the ramifications from the following play.

The catcher does the most mundane of actions in getting the ball back to the pitcher but fate steps in or at least the bat.  It pings off of it and is rolling around the field.  Odor keeps his head in the game and rambles on home.  Run stands but only after eighteen minutes of debate by the umpiring crew.  The crowds showed their dismay as batteries and heaps of trash got thrown onto the field.

Bottom of the Seventh

Down 3-2, Russell Martin hits a routine grounder to short.  Player goes down for the ball and comes up with air.  Runner makes it on the base and this lights the fuse.  Cole Hammels shakes it off and gets the next batter to ground into a double play but wait….  Another error as the toss is flubbed, hits the ground, and the fielder covering second does not come up with it.  Now a sac bunt but it goes right to the fielder.  Texas goes aggressive and easily gets the runner at third but alas another error prevents the odd from being recorded.  Bases loaded with no outs.

Odor’s Short lived Success

Now Donaldson comes up with the bases juiced.  He hits a flair but Odor at second stands frozen.  By the time he becomes unglued, it goes over his head and the tying run scores.  At least the Rangers kept their head and recorded an out at second base from this.  Now here comes the big moment and the bat flip.

Three run jack and the best bat flip you will ever see.  Yes he will be plunked next year.  Benches then clear.  Tempers die down as Tulo pops out.  The pitcher got him out gave up that home run so naturally he walks right at Tulo and swats him on his posterior.  Benches clear again.  Essentially game over as the Toronto Blue Jays come all the way back from the dead to take the series.

This is the action that drives us day and night.  Money on the game, moments of history, and enough flair ups to keep everyone happy.  Welcome to October Baseball at America’s Bookie.  It is a new game and a premium chance to parlay your sports knowledge into tangible cash.  Congrats to the Jays and we will see you tomorrow at The Brink.
