How stupid is the NFL? I just heard that are going to move the London games from 930 in the morning Eastern Time to the regular 1pm start time. As a football fan and bettor, and a bookie myself, this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The football season is already so short that I want to get as much football in as possible while the season is actually here. I never understood from the beginning what was the attraction in watching a game from London, then they actually did they correct tithing and moved one game to 930 in the morning and then this year all 3 games were at the earlier time slot.

I’m also a Giant fan so it was nice to see my team early Sunday morning when I woke up. Now I get the negatives here about even having games in London. It’s really not fair for the home teams to lose a home game that year, and that included the ridiculous idea of having a Monday Night game in Mexico as well. The NFL said that it is committed to the Thursday Night games and that they are here to stay.

I like the fact that most of the time the games played on Thursday are division games which makes them more competitive, as well as giving the teams on a short week more time to prepare because they are used to playing those division teams twice a year. I get all that, but why move the Sunday London games to the regular times? The only people that are going to watch are the fans of the teams and the people that actually bet those games.

The NFL said that they don’t want the market to get saturated, but that is ridiculous. By showing more games on TV it only helps the product. I remember as kid you would get maybe 2 games if you were lucky on TV and only if your home team was on the road, or you might be listening to the radio. Then they added Monday Night Football which was genius invention. Everyone loved Howard Cosell, Dandy Don, The Giffer and the Game of the Week. I know this is about money but the one game of the week I like the least, unless it is a really a good game is the Sunday Night Game, by then I’m getting sick of football. This past weekend with Thanksgiving it was really Heaven but by the time Monday Night rolled around you were getting a little bit tired of it. (Thank God I bet the Packers at +170 and hate the Eagles, cuz otherwise, I might’ve went to sleep early)

The point is they say they don’t want to water down the product but I don’t understand why an extra game, 3 weeks a year isn’t something that is good for the American fan. The reason they are playing these games overseas is because they do bring a lot of money into the league. If you are going to do this then at least do it correctly, and let us watch the games. Hell, I even called up America’s Bookie to place a live bet in overtime during the Cincy-Washington game this year because it was killing time till the other games started.

Don’t be foolish here. One of your best ideas was moving the games to an earlier time slot, and now you are moving them back? I guarantee that you will hurt your viewer ship, and you will be back to the earlier time slots in a year or two. Did you ever hear the saying “If it’s not broke then don’t fix it”? You have to give the NFL all the credit in the world for what they have done in the last few years as far as giving you more access to the games, so I have no idea what they are thinking on this one.

Frankie wants everyone speak out. Call your Bookie, your Congressman, your local TV Channel, your Psychiatrist and your favorite Hooker and tell them that “You are Mad as Hell and you are not going to take it anymore”. We suffered through Bicycle Racing and Golf and all the other crap we watched when there is no NFL, so when there is chance to watch more football, and bet more, then I’m all for it.
