Some odd occurrences went down yesterday that caused our collective eyebrows to rise.  One of our co-workers went to the local party store to pick up some vodka for another infusion experiment.  Strangely, he comes back with something in a non descript brown paper bag.  While we were discussing this, we were riveted to the television as the Novak-Kevin Anderson drama unfolded.  AB’s The Brink will examine these events as well as provide the Free Pick of the Day.

No Specific Law Requiring the Brown Paper Bag

It happens so often that most of us assumed that there must be a legal reason behind placing alcoholic purchases in that plain paper bag.  Not so says our crack research team when combing through local, state, and federal law.  It might be a requirement by the store for a myriad of reasons.  First, it is an easy way to visually confirm that the purchase has indeed been paid for.  What could it be more is from a sense of privacy.  In a bygone age, purchases of this nature were frowned upon.  Besides this aspect, a group that wanted to pass the bottle could do so better in a bag to escape local open container laws.  In the end, society got into this habit even at the cost of a few innocent trees.

No Lights?!

Resources are not lacking when it would come to playing under the lights at the All England Club.  Aesthetics have caused the stodgy to rail against this equalizer in competition.  Now Wimbledon sees another five set carry over match involving Novak.  This time he came back two sets down against Kevin Anderson.  The lower seed got the first two sets in tie breaks before wearing down to Novak 1-6 and 1-4 to get to the final set.  At this point, the match was called because of darkness.  This rescues the reeling Anderson.  Instead of being the ultimate set, it will no longer be the testament to physical fitness that it was meant to be.

Finally, our free pick on Seattle went down in flames.  Up 5-3, the Tigers found the energy to rally and swat the Mariners 12-5.  Last Monday caught us off guard in many moments.  Hopefully, a good night’s sleep has given us the perspective we need.  The odds for that fifth set seems off to us.  Anderson near +420 has our attention.  Kevin has the rest he needs to regain that serve.  It has to be the experience of Novak that puts him as such a favorite there.  If you want to wager on this as entertainment and for a small profit then a half unit on Kevin Anderson (+420) is the way to go.  No other wagering on the other side should be considered in the light of -500 or so chalk on Novak.  Good fortune today and we will talk again tomorrow here at The Brink.
