Two items stress out the sports follower more than anything else.  One is rallying a close wager down to the wire.  Second is getting said money when you hit paydirt.  Friday’s edition of The Brink examines both of these issues as they pertain to this week.  We look at how New Jersey workers demand bribes to perform their job.  Also on the board is that disheartening TCU result last night.  So get that morning cup of coffee, we have football to go over as the college season has already kicked off.

Excuses

Out in the garden state of New Jersey rests a bar named Pint.  Recently the owner started reporting problems with sanitation workers.  They were demanding beer bribes or else no trash hauling.  Since they worked for the Jersey City Incinerator authority, the owner decided to move his complaint up the food chain.  Well the bureaucrats there told the bar that if they proceeded that every city and county agency would come down on them with the most stringent of inspections.  This run around is not unknown in the sports investment industry.  Why take chances when you have America’s Bookie to take your bets?  Fair, honest, and an impeccable payout record.  All of this and your beer is yours to enjoy on your own.

TCU Needs Work

Every chance to blow them out, TCU’s offense was certainly over rated for this one.  Minnesota self destructed twice early on with costly fumbles which gave the Horned Frogs an easy score.  Other than that, the TCU quarter back certainly appeared mortal.  He could not solve the situations where the Gophers defense almost dropped everyone back in pass coverage.  With the traditional grind them out style, Minnesota was always within site and got a late touchdown to close to 23-17.  Heck they even stopped TCU three and out to get the ball back one last time.  Time ran out with the expected but uninspiring win by TCU.

So fading the big ten did not get the desired result in this one.  Michigan also loss to Utah so the conference went the bagel on opening night in ML and 1-1 in spreads.  Out TCU wager lost but we got it almost all back with the under hitting for UM and Utah.  Today, we are going to take the Michigan State Spartans spotting 17 1/2 to Western Michigan.  Good fortune to those who will tail us and we will see you tomorrow here at The Brink.
